By now, I am sure you have heard about the unflattering coverage that AirBNB has received, specifically with regard to complaints lodged by Black travelers. The hashtag #AirBNBWhileBlack was trending for quite a while. But the interesting aspect is that in trying to fill a void two unrelated companies—NoirBNB and NoireBNB—separated only by an ‘e’—announced their upcoming launches recently. This pitted NoirBNB versus NoireBNB. And now, before even launching, the business for one of the companies as they knew it has to be changed.

  1. What a sad but unsurprising turn of events. I do think the Noire folks had more serious intentions but too bad they didn’t consult and hire legal representation, this is a rookie mistake that I hope they’ll bounce back from.
