Five years ago, I never thought I would be writing this… an article on why I like to travel solo. I never thought I would be saying that I really, *really* like traveling by myself. Five years ago, I thought the idea of solo travel was daunting and scary and unsafe and all of the things that we are fed by various forces in our lives. But I overcame that and I went. And now, I love it. Here’s why.

2015 Reflections: My Travel Year in Review

So here we are. The end of 2015 and 2016 is on the horizon. Where did the time go?

2015 was an amazing learning year for me. And an amazing travel year for me. My travel journey during the course of this year is the stuff of many people’s dreams. But I want more. I am striving for bigger and better and higher next year.

But for now, I reflect. On all of the things I have accomplished this year related to travel. Earlier this year, I wrote Part 1 and Part 2 of 30 Goals for My Wanderlustful Soul. So here it goes.

Solo Travel Tips Guide

The idea of solo travel can be scary. Especially if the travel is for pleasure, not business, where your time will be occupied with work-related events and meetings. The idea of leaving it all behind—traversing the globe all by your lonesome—can be frightening for some many.

It certainly was for me. But after I got tired of waiting for others to get on board with my travel desires, I was forced to pull the trigger or give up. I chose to pull the trigger, and it was one of the best decisions I have made in a long time. I had such a memorable experience that I would definitely do it again in the future.

And you can have the same thing. But before you embark on that journey, there are some considerations to take to ensure an unforgettable trip. Below are my reflections, having just taken my first solo trip, for newbies and experienced travelers alike, on how to have an amazing solo excursion.
