Let me tell you a little story about how I almost went on to glory.
Hungry in Bangkok? Then Context Travel‘s Bangkok Food Tour is right up your alley. I got a chance to experience this complimentary tour from one of my favorite travel partners Context Travel, on my recent trip to Thailand. I have done four tours now and this is *definitely* one of my favorite tours. Every foodie who visits Bangkok should take the Context Travel Bangkok Food Tour…here’s why.
When looking for luxury accommodations in Bangkok, Thailand, the buck stops at the Royal Orchid Sheraton Bangkok. I was blessed enough to have the Royal Orchid sponsor my stay for the first stop on my birthday trip to Southeast Asia, and the Royal Orchid left such an impression, it will definitely be my first choice in accommodations when I return to Bangkok. Here is a glimpse with my Royal Orchid Sheraton Bangkok review.
I recently returned from my first trip to Southeast Asia. I had the fortune to visit Thailand (Bangkok and Chiang Mai), Singapore, and Bali (along with dinner in Osaka, Japan, on a seven-hour layover). I will admit that I didn’t do as much research for this trip, as it crept up on me, but it ended up being a truly remarkable trip. And I learned a lot while I was there. Here are five things I learned during my trip to Thailand, the first full leg of my Southeast Asia trip.
Roister was one of the most anticipated and celebrated Chicago restaurant openings in 2016. Grant Achatz & Company’s new endeavor provides more casual – and affordable – access to experiencing the culinary brilliance of the chefs in the Alinea Group. We sat down at the Chicago hot spot, and this is our Roister review.
Downtown St. Louis is home to numerous colleges, government buildings, the Mississippi riverfront, and, of course, the Gateway Arch. Outside of the riverfront and arch area, parts of downtown become like a ghost town, with streets empty and a sparse number of cars on the roads. But one of the most gorgeous and historical spots in the downtown area is the Magnolia Hotel St. Louis. I was fortunate to get to experience this historic landmark with a media discount on my recent visit to STL. Check out my Magnolia Hotel St. Louis review.
To assess this situation with 20 years of airline industry knowledge, Rhyse Woodward, Resident Travel Industry Expert and airline retiree, to weigh in. Here are her insights:
A video went viral today of a doctor being forcibly dragged off his flight in an overbooking situation. The video is naturally causing outrage against the airline, staff, crew, and the law enforcement officer(s) involved. It has created a media crap storm for United. Someone may lose their job over this fiasco, but not for the reasons you may think. I’ll get to that later. In this post, I’m not going to delve into where the blame may or may not lie. Instead, I am going to provide a basic layman’s knowledge of what a contract of carriage is, some FAA laws applicable to this situation, and how they apply to us as passengers.
As a Black American, I have always wondered where I came from. Sure, I knew it was Africa but where specifically. As as traveler with infinite wanderlust, I needed some guidance. I am finally getting back to the Motherland this year, but there are so many areas that I want to visit, and always have. I wanted to visit Egypt…because pyramids. I have also been interested in South Africa, Kenya, and recently Tanzania. And, of course, I have always (even as a child) wanted to visit western African countries like Ghana and Senegal because those were the last ports before the slaves were brought over on the Middle Passage. That has been a passion of mine, to see these various regions and countries in Africa.
La Fonda on the Plaza is a hotel that I’m really fond-a. Okay, I just couldn’t resist throwing in that corny line. But the sentiment holds true. The famed La Fonda Hotel in Santa Fe was an absolute dream come true, with perfect location, a lovely room, and New Mexico charm. I had the opportunity to get a special media rate to experience La Fonda, and I could not have been more thrilled with my choice of hotels in Santa Fe. Keep reading for the full scoop in this La Fonda Santa Fe hotel review, and how they made my birthday special.
Santa Fe is the sleepy little southwestern town that could. It is super quaint and the perfect getaway for great food, a southwestern vibe, and Native American culture. Even being there for a few days wasn’t enough time and we need to go back. Here are some insights for planning a trip to Santa Fe.
