“I see my path, but I don’t know where it leads. Not knowing where I’m going is what inspires me to travel it.” ~Rosalia de Castro
I am a lawyer. I am a journalist. I am a writer. I am a photographer. And I love to travel.
I have always taken a multi-track approach to life. Before I was an attorney, I was a writer, dating back to the junior high and high school days. I went to the best J-School in the land, where I focused on magazine journalism. I worked for a number of newspapers, newsmagazines, and popular magazines, including People Magazine. I loved writing, and I still do.
After taking a media law course during undergrad, I realized that I didn’t want to just write, I wanted to protect the rights of content creators. I delved into intellectual property and decided to represent various creatives, including musicians, songwriters, film producers, photographers, fashion designers, clothing and jewelry lines, toy creators, comedians, and more in both their copyright and trademark endeavors. I also practice in business law, contracts and negotiations. I love my law practice, and I love helping up-and-coming artists and creatives protect their hard work.
But through it all, I missed writing. And photography. Not to mention, I have always loved traveling and exploring new things and areas. So last year, I decided to combine all of those loves and BarrisTourista was born. I have always been entrepreneurial in spirit. I have never taken the traditional path, but I hope someday to get there (wherever “there” is) all the same. I hope you enjoy my musings and will follow me on my journey.
