2016 Goals for Travel and Life

“Every time you tear a leaf off a calendar, you present a new place for new ideas and progress.”

~Charles Kettering

I am a big fan of SMART goals. So with this new year upon us, I decided to build on what I have learned from this year and make some new goals. I still hold my Wanderlustful Part 1 and Part 2 goals, but here’s looking to 2016 and all that it has in store. These are my 2016 goals for travel and life.

#1 See 3-5 new countries

This one is pretty self explanatory from a travel blogger perspective. And if I am going to make my goal of 40 countries before 40, I need to get on it. I also have my goal of one new state and one new country every year. I already have one new state and country set up in the first two months of 2016, so I am looking forward to seeing how many amazing new sites I can visit throughout the year.

And be sure to check in regularly, as I run the ‘Where in the World is BarrisTourista?’ contest where readers can guess on my location and win a local care package from my location.

#2 Be more social

This year, I started delving more into social media, and I want to increase that even more in 2016. I am really going to make a concerted effort to rock Instagram and Pinterest, so stay tuned for more dope pics coming from my social feed.

#3 Create new galleries and create prints for sale

I want to continue working on my photography and shooting. But I have so many galleries that I haven’t even had time to edit and post on the site. So I want to expand my galleries to offer my followers a visual depiction of my travels and adventures. And I plan to make some prints available for purchase as wall art or otherwise. I love having beautiful, original photos and works of art in my house, so I want to bring my photos to you to inspire your wanderlust.

#4 Increase my product offerings

This one is already in the works. I have just added two digital products (travel planning workbook and travel budget sheets packet), and in 2016, I am looking to create more digital products. Also, new products and expansions to my BarrisTourista Travel Store lines are in the works, so stay tuned!

#5 Travel solo again

I travel quite a bit domestically solo, so I would like to take another solo trip either domestically or internationally. I had such an amazing time traveling solo internationally in Panama and Vancouver, that I want to do it again.

#6 Volunteer more

I need to work on this ASAP. This ties in with my goal to volunteer abroad. If I get the opportunity, I want to try to do that this year. But even if not abroad yet, I want to get back into volunteering locally. It is so immensely important, and sometimes life gets hectic and I fell off. That’s going to change in 2016.

#7 Bring you more L.A. from a local perspective

I love to explore the world from the perspective of a local, so this year I want to bring you more of my locale, Los Angeles. It’s a pretty cool city, so I think I shall share more of it with you. So please let me know, what do you want to see/learn about/get recommendations on?

Seven is a great number of completion, so I’ll stop there. What are your travel-related and life goals for 2016?

  1. Awesome goals! My travel goal is to see a new continent this year! I’m thinking Australia or Africa since I’ve already been to North America, South America, Europe, and Asia.

  4. My travel goal for 2016 is to finally make it to New Orleans. I’ve heard so many things about it. I’ve watched so many things about it, now I just need to add in my own personal account.

Great goals, can’t wait to read about them.

    1. Thanks so much Valerie! I am going to have to work hard to get there, but I am so excited about the process. So what countries top the top of your list to hit before the big 4-0? 🙂

  5. Excellent goals! I love to travel too, and I can’t wait to read about your upcoming adventures. I love the ideas of 40 countries before 40. I didn’t take my first serious trip until then. So, please keep pushing. You’re inspiring me 🙂
